Campaign Central
Leadership Giving
Triangle United Way (TUW) believes community leaders set standards for supporting the community and their dedication to helping those in need should be acknowledged through special recognition programs. Major gifts make up the fastest growing segment of TUW's annual campaign. Last year, 2,805 Leadership level donors contributed more than $5 million, which represented 30.4 percent of the total dollars raised in the campaign. These donors are truly making a difference in the Triangle and we recognize their generosity through the following initiatives:
African-American Leadership Initiative (AALI)
AALI formed the William and Josephine Clement Society in 1999 as a Triangle United Way special recognition program that recognizes African-American contributors who give $1,200 or more to support people in need. AALI seeks to engage more African-Americans to donate and volunteer to the United Way and increase leadership giving. For more information on how you can get involved, please contact Dee Blake at 919.463.5017.
Tocqueville Society
The United Way Tocqueville Society is named for the French historian, Alexis de Tocqueville, who admired and authored books about Americans' unique spirit of volunteer assistance to people in need. This spirit lives at the heart of United Way. As a member of this society, you are part of a special association of individuals whose exceptional generosity reflects extraordinary concern and a dedication to influencing positive change and creating a better life for everyone throughout the Triangle. Your membership in United Way's Tocqueville Society, with an annual gift of $10,000 or more, is one of the most effective ways you can make a powerful difference in the lives of people in our community who most need your help. Women's Leadership Council
The Women's Leadership Council (WLC) was created to inspire, educate and engage women in philanthropy, community service, advocacy and mentoring in order to positively impact the lives of people and our community. The goals of the WLC are: (1) To inspire women to address and support community challenges identified by Triangle United Way; (2) To connect women leaders who support Triangle United Way's mission of providing a community safety net; (3) To mentor women to become philanthropists and to take an active leadership role in the community; (4) To celebrate the contributions of women who make a significant, positive difference in the community and to learn from their efforts; (5) To advocate for more women in leadership roles within Triangle United Way: and (6) To increase the number of women Leadership Level donors. In order to join the Women's Leadership Council, women are asked to contribute a minimum of $1200 in their own names and to consider supporting the Community Care Fund with their donations. For more information on the Women's LeadershipCouncil, contact Linda Tuday at 919.463.5032.
