Band Together and United Way of the Greater Triangle have announced the Mighty Giveback, featuring two benefit concerts — October 2 and 28 — to raise funds for Triangle nonprofits focused on housing accessibility. Six-time Grammy-nominated band, Black Pumas, will headline the Mighty Giveback kick-off show on Sunday, October 2, 2022 at Red Hat Amphitheater. This will be the first show they’ve ever played in the Triangle. Opening acts include The Record Company and The Heavy Heavy.

Presale tickets will be available today, and public tickets will go on sale starting Thursday, May 5th at 11 am at this link.

“There is a first for everything and we couldn’t be more excited to present two amazing top-tier shows this year. One of my favorite bands, Black Pumas, will be headlining our Mighty Giveback kick-off concert,” said Thorne Daubenspeck, Executive Director of Band Together. “We’ve been focused on this show for two years and feel honored to be the first to present Black Pumas in the Triangle. This Sunday Funday kick-off show will spotlight incredible talent and a more intimate VIP experience inside Red Hat Amphitheater. We’re thrilled to partner with United Way to put on a great show for such an amazing cause.”

The headliner for the Mighty Giveback concert on October 28, 2022 will be announced to the public next week on May 11. This show will include the VIP festivities that fans have come to expect. Join Band Together’s announcement email list to be the first to hear the big news!

This is the third year that Band Together and United Way are partnering to support Triangle nonprofits working overtime to support our neighbors in need. With increases in housing costs making homes unaffordable for individuals and families experiencing poverty, the Mighty Giveback’s goal is to raise more than $1 million to help ensure that Triangle residents and families have a safe place to live and thrive. 10 Triangle nonprofits will be beneficiaries of these funds, including: CASA, Community Empowerment Fund, EMPOWERment Inc., Families Together, Habitat for Humanity of Durham, Habitat for Humanity of Orange County, Habitat for Humanity of Wake County, Hope Renovations, Housing for New Hope, and Passage Home.

“At United Way of the Greater Triangle, we are committed to our mission of eradicating poverty and increasing social mobility through the power of partnerships. The power of this partnership with Band Together, along with our incredible nonprofit leaders in the housing space, is that we can raise funds and awareness while harnessing the expertise and passion of community leaders that wake up thinking about this challenge every day,” said Eric Guckian, United Way of the Greater Triangle’s President and CEO. “Last year, United Way funding helped over 10,000 of our neighbors find homes that are safe and affordable. This year’s partnership has the potential to make exponential progress for one of our most stubborn community issues. We can do this if we do it together!”

Please join Band Together and United Way of the Greater Triangle in raising over $1 Million to support housing accessibility in the Triangle. Ticket sales, individual donations, and corporate sponsorships to the Mighty Giveback will directly support the most impactful nonprofits in the Triangle who are at the frontlines of our community’s housing crisis. If you are interested in becoming a Mighty Giveback sponsor, please contact Hannah Parker (hannah@bandtogethernc.org).
