Take the 5-Day Maternal Health Awareness Challenge

United Way of the Greater Triangle’s Maternal Health Awareness Challenge will take individuals on a daily quest to learn and discover effective habits about access, race, and privilege. The goal is to educate and empower individuals with new understandings and connections on how to begin dismantling systemic barriers within the healthcare system and support that building awareness around Maternal Health.

The Challenge is entirely online and self-paced. Participants receive a Challenge email Monday through Friday with content such as reading an article, listening to a podcast, or watching a video to engage in. They are encouraged to reflect on the information through journaling and to relate the situation to their own lives. During the Challenge, participants discover how these inequities affect our community.

Virtual Conversation: Maternal Health Unwrapped

Investing in maternal health is a win-win situation for individuals and communities. Women experiencing poverty face higher risks of maternal mortality but communities that invest in maternal health have found that those investments not only improve a mother’s health and that of her family, they also increase the number of women in the workforce and promote the economic well-being of the entire community.

Join us on Friday, January 21 for Maternal Health Unwrapped, a virtual conversation that explores local nonprofits working to address maternal health disparities in the Triangle and why it’s important for all residents to advocate for systemic changes in support of birthing people in our communities.
