Nadia Trevizo
Nadia Trevizo earned her bachelor’s in Spanish from Arizona State University and her master’s in Spanish from University of North Carolina Wilmington, where she focused on sociolinguistics. During grad school, she found her way into the nonprofit world by supporting first-gen Latine students in reaching their postsecondary goals through UNC Wilmington’s MI CASA program—and she hasn’t looked back since. She went on to lead College y Consejos, a statewide virtual program at LatinXEd that helped Latine students navigate North Carolina’s education system. In 2023, she moved to the Triangle to grow her impact and build deeper connections in this work from eastern North Carolina. She started at UWGT as a Digital Marketing Manager, where she got to know the organization’s nonprofit and corporate partners by amplifying their powerful work. Now, as the Nonprofit Partnerships and Community Impact Manager, she’s focused on helping organizations build capacity, strengthen skills, and connect with others making change across the Greater Triangle.
What Drew Me to UWGT?
A few years ago, I served as the program manager for College y Consejos for a North Carolina-based non-profit called LatinXEd, which works to dismantle systemic educational barriers facing Latine students. My program was designed to help first-generation Latine students achieve their post-secondary educational dreams. In need of funding to sustain the program, I helped draft a successful proposal in response to a UWGT RFP, resulting in funding to help propel the program forward. UWGT was there when my organization most needed it, and UWGT was there when I was ready to take the next step in my career.
