United Way Celebrates Top 25 Corporate Giving Campaigns in the Triangle
United Way of the Greater Triangle announced today that it raised $8M in fiscal year 2019-2020 to support its mission of eradicating poverty and increasing social mobility through the power of partnerships. It’s thanks to contributions from more than 250 employers in the Triangle that the organization is able to provide year-round support to 85 local nonprofits addressing disparities in education, food insecurity, affordable housing, mental health support, and more.
This announcement comes on the heels of the organization’s first virtual campaign celebration, which honored the 25 companies whose employees provided the biggest contributions:

“Workplace giving campaigns are the backbone of United Way’s impact and those campaigns wouldn’t be possible without the employees representing our top 25 corporate partners. They make it possible for United Way to provide year-round support to the folks who need it most. That’s remained true during the COVID-19 pandemic and will continue as we focus on helping the Triangle recover and stabilize,” said Eric Guckian, President and CEO of United Way of the Greater Triangle.
Outside of regularly scheduled workplace giving, employees from the companies listed above were also integral in the success of United Way’s Rapid Response Fund, which supports nonprofits providing critical resources for residents during COVID-19. Since March 2020, the Fund has helped to provide 456,970 healthy meals, 3,998 people with emergency housing services, 18,625 students with resources to support out of school education needs, and 37,504 people with necessary medical support.
“Duke Energy employees see the vital work United Way leads across the Triangle and choose to give from their own pockets to aid in eradicating poverty. Employee donations are matched by the Duke Energy Foundation to double the impact in our communities. This is one of the many ways our employees step up to support our neighbors,” said Amy Strecker, Stakeholder Engagement Manager at Duke Energy and Vice Chair of United Way of the Greater Triangle’s Board of Directors.
