We prioritize the people and communities most impacted by poverty and racism. We center organizations led by women and leaders of color who approach their work with a root cause and racial equity analysis. This is imperative for strengthening a nonprofit and community ecosystem that can advance prosperity and self-determination. In pursuit of that goal, we also recognize that crises and the everyday symptoms of poverty and racism require stabilization efforts to ensure safety, basic necessities, and opportunity for all.
We engage donors and direct funds to support community-driven solutions in the following ways:
Raise resources across sectors–from individuals, corporations, foundations, and other institutions–and demonstrate our value add to stakeholders by measuring impact.
Steward equitable grantmaking and resource distribution that provides funding to individuals and organizations working in key focus areas.
Provide facilitated programming where our staff engage alongside grantees to support learning, capacity building, and collective action.
Manage specialized funds that respond to community crises and urgent needs.
Execute donor-directed gifts in line with our mission and values.

We believe in the power of stories to draw us closer to people we don’t know and transform our understanding of what it takes for everyone to thrive. While we center the lives of the people most impacted by the problems we seek to address, we also highlight the journeys of community stakeholders, partners, and donors narrating the variety of roles necessary to achieve our collective vision.
