BJ Rudell

BJ Rudell’s background includes stints on Capitol Hill and campaigns, in newsrooms and classrooms, and for corporations and nonprofits. Despite what appears to be a Jackson-Pollock-like smattering of experiences, their core purpose was the same: employing innovative relational marketing and communications strategies to strengthen communities. From steering tens of millions of dollars of HBCU funding through Congress, to transforming a university into a national model for voter turnout, to founding and leading a tutoring program for District of Columbia youth, BJ believes deeply in the power of propelling ideas and ideals forward for the greater good.

What Drew Me to UWGT?

As a child of the 1980’s, I probably watched 100 or more United Way commercials before I could drive a car. These ads connected the dots between people, resources, and impact. They were testaments to the power of creating lasting change for those most in need. They were calls to action—calls to embrace community over isolation, progress over stagnation, and dignity over degradation. I love working alongside people who live their passion in service to an unimpeachable mission. UWGT hits the sweet spot.
